Peace 

I have woven a patient plot 

made of thin threads of hope 

to turn it into a jail  

for monstrous  

ghosts 

of War 

Then, in a fragile soap bubble, 

I had a utopia sailing,

ephemeral vision  

of Peace 

on Earth.

Ho tessuto una paziente trama

di sottili fili di speranza

per  farne prigione

di mostruosi

fantasmi

di Guerra

Poi, in una fragile bolla di sapone,

ho fatto veleggiare un’Utopia

effimera visione

di Pace

in Terra.

The plow of hate 

The plow of hate

digs

the Earth. 

The shining blade 

engraves furrows soaked with tears, 

and tills clots of grudge,

and digs atrocious slashes of mourning, 

and ferrets out the roots of remote revenges, 

and rolls buried tragedies, 

and rediscovers ancient pits of death. 

With fanatical anger  

the plow of hate 

slashes

the ground of distant countries,  

and smashes remote regions, 

then it starts scratching 

the calm familiar valleys. 

Engraved, stunned,  

plowed,   

the wounded Earth

is waiting for a seed 

to make Peace, 

again, 

blossom.

L’aratro dell’odio

Scava

la Terra

l’aratro dell’odio.

La lucente lama

incide solchi bagnati di pianto,

dissoda grumi di rancori

scava atroci squarci di lutto

scova radici di remote vendette

rivolta tragedie sepolte,

riscopre antiche fosse di morte.

Con fanatica rabbia

l’aratro dell’odio,

squarcia,

terre di paesi lontani,

fracassa  remote contrade,

poi comincia a scalfire

le tranquille familiari vallate.

Incisa, sconvolta,

aratra,  

la Terra,

ferita,

attende un seme

per far germogliare,

di nuovo,

la Pace.

Curse against the war

Let the blood of the dead squirt

in the evil eyes

of those who want the war!

 

And let it soil their faces,

and let it fill up their mouths!

 

And let the increasing lake of blood

submerge and drown them!

And let the red tide grow, immense,

to hide them forever!

Imprecazione contro la Guerra

Che schizzi il sangue dei morti

negli occhi malvagi

di chi vuole la guerra!

E che gli  insozzi la faccia

e che gli riempia la bocca!

 

E che il lago crescente di sangue

li sommerga e li affoghi!

 

E che salga, immensa, la rossa marea

e li nasconda per sempre!

Impetuous stream 

Impetuous stream; 

tumults of roars, 

water falls, 

thundering jumps, 

on damp rocks, 

battles of billows, 

showers of splashes, 

potholes of stones, 

deep smashes, 

of eddies in the ditches. 

Panting chase

of small waves 

towards soaked banks, 

towards deep valleys, 

towards distant lowlands, 

 then towards a calm,  

and final, 

rest in the sea.  

Deadly stream 

of the human past, 

tumultuous flow 

of tragic History; 

deafening noises 

of weapons and fights, 

eddies of wars, 

sprays of corpses, 

rumble of bombs 

and bangs of events. 

Brief intervals 

of fugacious truce, 

always waiting  

for new accidents. 

Deadly stream 

of the human past 

after so much ravage, 

after so many torments, 

after so much mourning, 

sooner or later, 

you also will need to get, 

as all the streams, 

to your final sea 

of calm and of 

Peace.

Irruente torrente

Irruente torrente;

tumulti di scrosci,

cascate di acque,

salti tonanti,

su umidi massi,

battaglie di flutti,

docce di spruzzi,

marmitte di sassi,

profondi fracassi,

di gorghi nei fossi.

Affannata rincorsa

di piccole onde

verso fradice sponde,

verso valli profonde,

verso pianure lontane,

 poi verso un tranquillo

e finale,

riposo nel mare.

 

 

Funesto torrente

dell’umano passato,

tumultuoso flusso

di tragica Storia;

frastuoni assordanti

di armi e di scontri,

gorghi di guerre,

spruzzi di morti,

boati di bombe

e botti di eventi.

Brevi  intervalli

d’effimera tregua,

sempre in attesa

di nuovi incidenti.

 

Funesto torrente

dell'umano passato

dopo tanto sconquasso,

dopo tanti tormenti,

dopo tanti cordogli,

prima o poi,

dovrai pure arrivare,

come tutti i torrenti,

al tuo mare

finale

di calma e di

 Pace.

Preghiera

Perdono

per i milioni di bimbi violati.

Perdono

per gli occhi umiliati

 delle schiave rinchiuse  

nelle  gabbie di stoffa.

Perdono

per le torture, le gabbie  e

 le catene di ferro.

Perdono

per non aver fermato le guerre.

Chiediamo almeno perdono

per non  avere impedito,

per non aver prosciugato

l’ immenso dolore

che inzuppa la Terra.
